The Assistant to Buyer plays a crucial role in supporting the Buyer by managing product samples, processing purchase orders, maintaining inventory, and ensuring smooth communication with vendors and internal teams. The position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and ensure timely deliveries.
Salary: From $43,680 a year
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating purchase orders, monitoring order status, and coordinating with suppliers for timely deliveries.
- Prepare and update product information in systems, including pricing, order details, incoming goods, price list, memo and planograms.
- Prepare/sending information to Head Office & Stores through a bi-weekly mailbag schedule
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve any shipment issues or delays, escalating problems to the Buyer when necessary.
- Organize and maintain the sample room inventory, ensuring samples are properly labeled and cataloged for easy reference.
- Provide administrative support to the Buyer, including filing, emailing, and managing supplier correspondence.
- Assist the Buyer in preparing for meetings by compiling sales data and competitor analysis,
- Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate receipt of goods.
- Organize and maintain product samples, product testing, sales data, conducting competitor analysis for buyer review, meetings, and presentations.
- Maintain inventory information and perform stock checks to ensure proper replenishment levels.
- Keep accurate inventory records and manage data for yearly store inventory counts.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator
- Previous experience in retail or buying is preferred but not required.
- Sewing experience is preferred
