Coordinate your fabric choices to match baby’s décor or add a pop of colourful fun! Made by you, these blankets can keep baby cozy & secure during naptime or can be used as a burp cloth, a stroller cover & more!

For the Double Sided Receiving Blanket

You will need

  • Sewing Machine
  • Quilting Pins
  • Craft Scissors/Rotary Blade
  • 2 Packages of Cotton Binding
  • 1 Woven Label
  • Ruler and Sewing Gauge
  • Iron
  • Thread
  • 2 pieces of 35” (90 cm) Cotton Flannelette

Step 1: Select 2 pieces, 35" (90cm) of your favorite Fabricland Cotton Flannelette.

Step 2: Pre-wash the fabric in order to ensure no further shrinkage occurs.

Step 3: Iron fabric, otherwise fabric can be difficult to measure and cut if it has wrinkles.

Step 4: Measure a 32" (81 cm) square out of each piece of Flannelette. Place right sides together. If the fabric is lined up on the edges then you can just measure from the side.

Step 5: Sew 5/8" (1.6cm) around the edge of the blanket. Leave a 2" (6cm) opening to turn inside out.

Step 6: Turn Flannelette inside out so wrong sides are together.

Step 7: Add blanket binding around the edges with a zigzag stitch.

Step 8:Iron a woven label onto the corner to make complete with love.

For the Swaddle Blanket

You will need

  • Sewing Machine
  • Quilting Pins
  • Craft Scissors/Rotary Blade
  • Sewing Gauge
  • Ruler
  • Iron
  • Thread
  • 55” (140 cm) Wide Width Double Cotton Gauze

Step 1: Select 55" (140 cm) of Double Cotton Gauze.

Step 2: Pre-wash this fabric in order to ensure no further shrinkage occurs. This fabric may shrink around 15%.

Step 3: Iron fabric, otherwise fabric can be difficult to measure and cut if it has wrinkles.

x

Step 4: Measure and cut 45"x50" (114 cm x 127 cm) of Double Cotton Gauze. You can use tailors chalk as a guide.

Step 5: Fold over and hem ½" (1.3cm) around the edges and sew with a ¼" (0.6cm) seam. Fold over ½" (1.3cm) and hem again with a ¼" (0.6cm) seam to finish the look.
