What You Need:
What You Do:
- Cut out your pattern
Download the free pattern PDF, tape the pages together at the page edge, and cut out the
pattern. Cut your pattern
pieces out of your desired fabric.
- Sew the body pieces
Take one head piece, one body piece and one tail piece. Align them at the seams, right
sides together. Sew them together
to create a full body piece. Repeat for the other side.
- Sew the fins together
Place each pair of fin pieces right sides together, and sew around the edges leaving the
straight edge open. Trim the
corners, turn the pieces right side out, and iron. Repeat for all fins.
- Attach the fins
Lay one body piece right side up. Position the fins according to the markings on the
pattern, with the raw edges aligned
to the edge of the body. Sew the fins on.
- Sew the body together
Lay the second body piece right side down, sandwiching the fins inside. Pin around the
edges, and sew all the way around
leaving a 2-3 inch gap for turning and stuffing.
- Turn and stuff
Turn the pillow right side out through the opening. Gently push out the edges and
corners. Then stuff with polyester
fill until at your desired squishiness.
- Close the opening
Fold in the raw edges at the opening, and carefully hand sew it closed using an
invisible stitch.
- Add the eyes
Sew on the button eyes. Alternately, eyes can be felt circles glued on, or you can
embroider eyes!
NOTE: The printed pattern needs to be taped together aligned at the edge of the paper for
the pattern to match up.
