Abbreviations

  • Ch – chain
  • St(s) – stitch(es)
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Hdc – half double crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • Dc2tog – double crochet two together
  • Sl st – slip stitch

18–24M (2T, 3T, 4T)


*NOTE: Pattern is worked from the bottom the dress to the top. The front and back panels are worked the same way.

What You Do:


FOUNDATION

With Colour A, ch 122 (134, 146, 158). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in every ch across. Turn.


ROW 1

Ch 3 (counts as first dc).
Dc in the next 27 (33, 39, 45) sts.
You now have 28 (34, 40, 46) side sts.

CENTRE WAVE PANEL DESIGN

[Half Peak]: 3 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.
Dc in next 5 sts.
**[Valley]: dc2tog x4.
Dc in next 5 sts.
[Full Peak]: 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.
Dc in next 5 sts.**
Repeat from ** to ** one time.
 [Half Peak]: 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st.
Dc in remaining 28 (34, 40, 46) sts.
Turn.

ROW 2 AND ALL FOLLOWING ROWS

Ch 3 (counts as first dc).
Dc in the next 27 (33, 39, 45) sts.
You now have 28 (34, 40, 46) side sts.
Skip a st

Continue with the CENTRE WAVE PANEL DESIGN

*NOTE: Always work the peak (3 dc in the same stitch) into the centre stitch of the peak from the previous row.


After the end of the CENTRE WAVE PANEL DESIGN, skip a st.
Dc in remaining 28 (34, 40, 46) sts.
Turn.

STRIPES

After working 8 rows, switch to Colour B. Continue alternating colours every 8 rows.


A-LINE SHAPING

Every 8th row:
Ch 3.
dc2tog x2.
Work row normally, until the last 4 sts.
dc2tog x2
Turn.


*NOTE: Continue until body measures: 11” (12”, 13”, 14”) from bottom edge.

BIB SHAPING

Continue working the established Row 2 pattern.
Ch 3.
dc2tog over first 2 sts.
Work ROW 2 pattern.
dc2tog over last 2 sts.
Turn.
Continue until bib width measures approximately 5” (5½”, 6”, 6½”) across the top.


Once desired bib width is reached, stop decreasing.


Continue working Row 2 without decreases, until bib height measures approx. 3” (3½”, 4”, 4½”), ending at the completion
of an 8-row repeat, so the stripes remain the same width.
Fasten off.

BACK PANEL

Repeat Front Panel exactly.


ASSEMBLY

Place front and back panels together.
Sew side seams.
Leave top edges open.

SHOULDER TIE STRAPS

Row 1:

With Colour of your choice, Ch 50 (55, 60, 65), then attach yarn to one top front corner.
Sl st evenly around armhole edge to opposite side.
Ch 50 (55, 60, 65)
Turn.


Row 2:

Hdc across chain.
Hdc evenly around armhole edge.
Hdc across second chain.
Turn.

Row 3:

Hdc across.
Fasten off.


Repeat on opposite armhole. Tie shoulder straps into bows.


FINISHING

Weave in all ends. Lightly block dress to open the wave pattern.
Add buttons for a finishing touch!
